2021 marks a bright and beautiful new beginning for many of us, as lockdown measures relax and we emerge from our homes to see friends and family again and have a drink at the pub. It additionally marks the ten-year anniversary of Digital Shadows (now ReliaQuest) from when we started from a kitchen table in London back in 2011. Those early years were formative in understanding the market and setting our culture, before raising our Series A in 2015 and establishing ourselves in the US, before scaling globally in the years that have followed.

It isn’t easy to reflect and find the words to describe all the incredible accomplishments from our clients, our partners and our team in words, so I’d like to highlight in numbers how the past decade has gone. From incidents prevented and endless hours saved by SearchLight’s automation for security teams to added features, partner initiatives, and bleeding-edge research from our Photon team. Here are the ten milestones celebrating ten years of Digital Shadows (now ReliaQuest).

15 Million Alerts Sent by SearchLight

Over the past decade, SearchLight (now ReliaQuest’s GreyMatter Digital Risk Protection) has sent more than 15 million alerts, protecting their sensitive data from exposure across open, deep, dark, and technical sources.

We’ve built ways to automate the delivery of these alerts where we can, enabling our customers to quickly action our intelligence. Of course, there are sometimes instances where our customers need help assessing the threat and remediation options. Our analyst team has been busy in this respect, manually reviewing more than 1 million of these alerts.

400 Customers Rely On Us For Digital Risk Protection

We’re fortunate enough to work in an industry that has kept growing, even in these challenging times. In fact, our growth has actually accelerated as the risks associated with remote working and digitization have intensified. The previous two quarters have been record-breaking for us, growing our customer base to 400 organizations.

I truly appreciate all our customers–especially those who have been with us since the early days when the product looked a lot different than it does today!

400% Growth in Revenue From Our MSSP Partners

In 2020, we launched our new partner program, announcing more than 30 partnerships across the globe. Partners remain a core component of our company strategy across the globe, helping accelerate growth and boost trust among the security community. A successful channel program required dedicated enablement and training, training we’ve delivered plenty of in the form of videos, guides, and courses in our new partner portal

We’re proud to foster a large community of strategic partners, channel partners, MSSP, and system integrators to deliver more value to our customers.

20 Different Nationalities In the Team

Diversity is such an important aspect for me at Digital Shadows (now ReliaQuest). With the development of our Women’s Network in 2018, I’m especially proud of how this has developed in the past years. In addition to being the right thing to do, increased diversity has so many benefits for us – including improved threat intelligence analysis for our customers (you can read more about this in a blog from the Photon team). This week’s ShadowTalk covering the critical Colonial Pipeline Incident is a great example, coming from Singapore, Italy and the UK. While there are now more than 20 nationalities on our team, we still have plenty of work to do.

48 Product Releases in 2 Years

Since I wrote about SearchLight’s Biggest Ever Update two years ago, our product and engineering teams haven’t slowed down. We release new functionalities and updates to our customers every two weeks. This is a phenomenal amount of work that involves input from our customers, partners, and other stakeholders – without them, we wouldn’t be where we are today.

Stay tuned for some exciting product-related updates in the next few months!

222 Unique MITRE Technique Profiles Available

With the industry shifting to look externally for threats, demand for threat intelligence to predict and prevent incidents is at all-time high. We’re proud to take the lead in helping security teams find ways to operationalize threat intelligence by offering MITRE technique profiles in our Threat Intelligence library.

These new profiles are available to SearchLight (now ReliaQuest’s GreyMatter Digital Risk Protection) customers in addition to powerful visualizations of associated techniques, subtechniques, and recommended detection and mitigation actions. Customers get detailed insights into patterns of threat actor behavior with additional context and analysis provided by Photon Research, continually updated as new activity emerges. This enables security teams to take a more strategic response.

24 Billion Credentials Collected

Our Exposed Employee Credential Monitoring has been one of our most popular use cases for many years. We now have more than 24 billion unique username and password combinations–8 billion of which have been added in the last 12 months.

2 New Validation Methods

We know that security analysts’ time is precious and our focus is to raise only relevant alerts and make them as easy to triage as possible. That’s why we’re trying to make it easier for security teams to get to incident remediations and triaging the more complex, pressing risks by automating things with standard processes. In 2021, our integrations with Microsoft Azure AD and Okta for automatically validating exposed credentials have become our most popular integrations we have ever released.

I love this stat in particular, as it demonstrates perfectly how we’ve built a highly-scalable technology supported by an incredibly smart intelligence team.

2,000 Ransomware Victims Identified

The last few weeks have been dominated by various ransomware groups making global headlines, but this is not a recent trend. Our research team, Photon, has been tracking these groups since 2016 and reporting on their victims announced on their respective dark web and cybercrime blogs. To date, we’ve identified more than 2,000 ransomware victims.

200 Episodes of ShadowTalk, our Threat Intelligence Podcast

Digital Shadows (now ReliaQuest)’ weekly threat intelligence podcast ShadowTalk recently achieved a massive milestone with their 200th episode ever. Much has changed in the threat landscape since Shadow Talk’s inception, but our team of analysts still manages to engage in meaningful conversations and distill valuable insights from leaders in the cybersecurity space consistently for the past three and a half years.

Cheers to 10 Years!

It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years, the time has gone so quickly. We’ve come a long way in that time, but we are still just getting started. 2021 has been our fastest start to a year ever with record sales and retention so far and many exciting new releases to come in the second half.

I’d like to raise a glass to say a massive thank you to our customers, partners, investors and of course my dedicated Digital Shadows (now ReliaQuest) colleagues for making this such a great decade. Watch this space–there’s a lot more to come from us!
