Looking for some new threat intelligence podcasts to add to your playlist? Look no further! Our Photon Threat Intelligence Research team recently discussed their go-to security and threat intelligence podcasts they subscribe to, so we figured we’d share it around wider.

Here’s our take on some of the best security and threat intelligence podcasts to add to your subscribe list (in no distinct order).

1. DarkNetDiaries

Darknet Diaries podcast

Alright you may know that we’re a big fan of demystifying the dark web, so we obviously enjoy anything darknet on our playlists. Jack Rhysider started this podcast because there wasn’t a show dedicated to this subject, so he decided to start one. Jack’s a security veteran, and his episodes focus around the dark side of the Internet including cybercrime and data breaches that occur. We’re also a big fan of the graphics and theme Jack and his team have going on online.

2. Risky.Biz

Risky Biz podcast

This one’s been out for a while, but the team keeps listening. It features Patrick Gray interviewing a variety of different security experts. Some of our favorite episodes have been around the MITRE ATT&CK framework, cyber policy issues, and just the weekly threat intel updates.

3. Cyber from Motherboard

Cyber Motherboard podcast

Motherboard is one of the more well-researched media outlets when it comes to cyber issues. Ben Makuch, Joseph Cox and Lorenzo Franceschi-Bicchierai are regulars on the show, all of whom are known for breaking big cyber-related stories that are well-researched and expertly sourced.

4. Paul’s Security Weekly

Paul's Security Weekly podcast

Paul Asadoorian and Jason Wood deliver another weekly security news show, with a new featured guest each week. This show has a more casual feel which we enjoy, but still digs deep into latest TTPs in the industry. There are a few different “shows” that this podcast hosts including Enterprise Security Weekly, Business Security Weekly, Tradecraft Security Weekly, Application Security Weekly, and Secure Digital Life (for those wanting to get into security). Lots to choose from based on your security interests.

5. Spycast

The Spycast Podcast

A Rick Holland (our CISO) favorite on all things spying and espionage. Dr. Vince Houghton, historian and curator at the International Spy Museum hosts this show, interviewing a variety of folks including ex-spies, intelligence experts, and espionage scholars. Plus we have to plug Rick’s guest interview episode: https://www.spymuseum.org/multimedia/spycast/episode/the-cyber-a-conversation-with-rick-holland/

6. Intelligence Matters

Intelligence Matters podcast

Our own host of ShadowTalk, Harrison Van Riper, enjoys this CBS News podcast, hosted by Michael Morell, former acting director of the CIA. He interviews people from the U.S. intelligence community to get a range of opinions on intelligence today.

7. Privacy security and OSINT show

Privacy Security and OSINT show podcast

Michael Bazzell hosts this show focused around privacy, digital security, and open source
intelligence. Lots of good episodes around data privacy with tips and workbooks for the practitioner audience.

We couldn’t make this list without selfishly plugging our own podcast, of course! We release a new weekly threat intelligence roundup each Friday with top stories from the week as well as sprinkle in some guest interview episodes where we hit on a wide variety of threat intelligence and security topics. Each week we swap between our U.S. host, Harrison Van Riper, and our UK host, Viktoria Austin. Our intelligence analysts are global, so we like to get a variety of opinions heard on the podcast. Have a listen and let us know any feedback to improving!
