Company History

ReliaQuest was born during an alumni reunion at Florida State University when a group of alumni got together casually talking around a table. At first, the founders were just catching up and updating each other on what they were doing. These conversations quickly turned into a brainstorming session that went on into the early morning hours. In the end, the founders had filled up close to twenty cocktail napkins with ideas, opportunities and best practices. One week later ReliaQuest was formed. Brian Murphy, one of the founders, was appointed President and CEO and the rest is history.

ReliaQuest started out as a traditional services firm providing support for both long and short term projects largely in the defense sector working OCONUS (Outside Continental United States) within the Communication Technology industry. As the business continued to grow, ReliaQuest was asked to support more and more cleared Information Assurance work both international and domestic, which became the focus point and building blocks for where the company is today. There was a service gap in the Cyber Security industry that was hurting the end user as most Cyber consulting companies couldn’t service or integrate the solutions they were selling. Often times the customer was left with some really powerful tools that didn’t work or that weren’t fully integrated into their existing framework. Given that ReliaQuest was founded on the ability to provide the required people to service the work, the company began to ramp up its staff of cyber security professionals for both government and commercial projects. The company prides itself on its ability to service the work for its customers and has the ability to scale up quickly regardless of the skill set needed or geographical location.

In 2012, ReliaQuest was rated one of the Best Places to Work by the Tampa Bay Business Journal and in the same year it was rated one of the top 10 fastest-growing companies in Tampa by the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
